Intertainment Starts Extensive Marketing Campaign to Introduce the Christmas Character „Rudolph® - The Red-Nosed Reindeer"

Munich, November 4, 1999 - At the beginning of the Christmas season Intertainment Animation & Merchandising GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intertainment AG, starts marketing the children’s classic Rudolph - the red-nosed reindeer. In the U.S. „Rudolph - the red-nosed reindeer" has been as popular as Father Christmas for many years.

Rudolph is introduced simultaneously in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland as of November 8, 1999. A central feature of the marketing of Rudolph is the vast coverage through advertising spots on at least 6 TV channels as well as an extensive print advertisement campaign. The first Rudolph video film will be introduced on November 7 in Berlin at a UNICEF charity event in cooperation with CinemaxX. Brand-new songs by Academy Award-winning Al Kasha, famous German voices such as Michael Schanze, Nina Hagen, Cosma Shiva Hagen and Thomas Fritsch and finally a breathtaking mix of classic 2D and modern 3D animation will help Rudolph find his way into the hearts of children. Also a music soundtrack on CD, soft toys as well as numerous other merchandising products are available.

„Rudolph - the red-nosed reindeer" is a symbol and speaker of the „Kids for Kids" campaign for the benefit of UNICEF. Intertainment, UNICEF and CinemaxX will carry out additional charity film campaigns on the Advent weekends thereby further attracting attention to the „Kids for Kids" promotion.

In addition, Intertainment was able to attract well-known cooperation partners for a variety of promotional measures around the Rudolph character, including inter alia CinemaxX, SAT 1, ORF and Weltbild Verlag as well as Karstadt, Kaufhof, Media Markt and many others. In December Rudolph is scheduled to appear on TV in various children’s and family programmes.

Rüdiger Baeres, Chairman of the Board of Management of Intertainment AG: „With Rudolph - the red-nosed reindeer Intertainment Animation and Merchandising GmbH sets its first major highlight. For Intertainment AG this means the start-up of the strategic merchandising business division."
